Developing of a shaft alignment measurement system for industrial equipment

The alignment failures that appear in rotating machines can cause numerous problems, from equipment deficient performance, greater energy consumption, greater noise and vibrations, greater wear and tear of mechanical components, and increase of the maintenance costs. According to the studied bibliography, with a precision alignment, the repairs of the rotating equipment are reduced by 30%. There are growing demands for fault detection equipment, diagnosis and monitoring of industrial equipment. This project represents the opportunity for many companies to have access to a shaft alignment versatile system. Based on above, the present research project aims to develop a portable measurement system for shaft alignment for highly cost-effective industrial equipment. The final product of this project will allow the areas of industrial maintenance to include in their tasks of preventive and predictive maintenance, perform the alignment measurement of the equipment and have them in efficient operation.
