Summary:
The French Agency of Development carries out a line of research about water governance, as well as about the common. Within this context, this research project aims to deepen the knowledge of the interactions between large and small water systems in the current situation of water crisis in Bolivia, to analyze the issue of water territories (territories managed and experienced by the stake-holders) from the perspective of the commons; and more generally, seeks to understand the positioning, the interactions and the dynamics of the social and political stake-holders.
GATED COMMUNITIES IN COCHABAMBA (2018)

Summary:
Although there is not much light shed on this topic in Cochabamba, this urban area is suffering from strong socio-spatial differentiation processes through the proliferation of closed neighborhoods. This research aims to describe the characteristics of this type of residential models in the metropolitan area in a first stage. Secondly, to explain the particular conditions of these residences within the framework of this phenomenon in Latin America.

Summary:
Product of a partnership among the Architecture and Urbanism Research Center (AURC), the Society of Urban and Regional Studies (SEUR) and the College of Architects of Bolivia, and through articles on three areas of the urban studies (urban mobility, the urban environment and the processes of socio-spatial differentiation), this publication aims to offer the public sector and the overall population a compilation of research works and/or reflection around the mentioned areas in Latin America in order to contribute to the construction of Bolivian urban policy currently in progress.
BOOK: THE CITY AND THE PROPERTY IN BOLIVIA-A READING FROM THE URBAN LAW (2018 - 2019)

Summary:
This book goes over the set of laws and/or urban-territorial legal instruments of national scale produced in Bolivia since 1871, focusing on land property and its social role, which is the main study object of what is known as Urban Law. Through examining the urban legislation classified in five areas, this book first presents the existence of laws for intervening urban property between 1930 and 1950 and the following reluctance of the government to discuss this subject and its reconsideration in the decades of 1970 and 1980. Likewise, the article shows the permanent lack of urban legislation and the role of the state in urban matters after 1970, but also the permanent presence of the social role of property in the discussion over urban issues, at least until 1990. This article is also important because its content lays the ground to reflect on the course of this type of legislation, in order to, once again, not only produce dialogue around urban issues and the necessity of its legislation, but mainly around intervening the land market as an indispensable tool to achieve the equal distribution of duties and benefits of urbanization in Bolivia.
IMPLEMENTATION OF A WEB OBSERVATORY OF REAL ESTATE MARKETS IN BOLIVIA (2017 - )

Summary:
This project aims to continually follow up the real estate markets in Cochabamba and other cities in Bolivia, in order to describe and explain its characteristics and its socio-economic ramifications, considering its impact over the physical and socio-spatial configuration of Bolivian cities.
The gradual consolidation of a real estate market observatory in Cochabamba and Bolivia is long due and expected. Students of UPB and UMSS universities participate together in the development of this project.
IMPLEMENTATION VIRTUAL REALITY LABORATORY FOR ARCHITECTURE (2018 - 2019)

Summary:
With the aim of introducing in the research and training of architects the possibilities that virtual reality offers, between 2018 and 2019 the first virtual reality laboratory is set up aimed at architecture and urban design. This will allow to move from the traditional plans (in two dimensions), digital representations in perspective or physical models, to the generation of situations or almost livable virtual architectural scenarios, for the different possibilities of perception that this laboratory will allow and will allow to improve the circumstances of space design.

Summary:
The research aims to identify and characterize self-financing strategies and mechanisms of urban development through water resources management in neighborhoods of the Cochabamba metro area.
The study is carried out in the municipalities of Cochabamba, Sacaba, Quillacollo, Tiquipaya, Vinto and Colcapirhua. It is based on the thesis that the processes of autonomous management of water services reinforce the phenomenon of urban fragmentation.
