Removal of saponins from bitter quinoa varieties based on the application of a spouted bed of rectangular configuration

Based on the application of a Rectangular configuration Fluidized Type Bed (LFTS)

The study aims to reduce the energy consumption per unit of mass required for the removal of saponins from bitter quinoa varieties, applying a novel configuration of a spouted bed with a rectangular section and lateral slots.

The study includes the development of an aerodynamic model that allows calculating the variables necessary to determine the specific energy consumption in such configuration, under different operating conditions (i.e. volumetric flow of air, mass of solid particles, spouted bed height and opening of the lateral slots). The results of the simulation will be compared with experimental data.
