ANALYSIS OF THE MACROECONOMIC ENVIRONMENT
Assessment of the effects of export and productivity policies
Evaluation of the effects of export and productivity policies on the distribution of household income, based on discrete choice and microsimulation models
In this work, the microsimulation methodology is developed to evaluate the expost effects of public policies on people's income. This methodology was applied for the analysis of Bolivian foreign and productive policy. The results obtained show that the effects of the destruction of jobs related to the export sector (not expansion of the ATPDEA) considerably increases poverty and, marginally, inequality; Another remarkable result shows that a policy that allows greater export jobs, together with an increase in productivity in the agricultural sector, is one of the most efficient public policies to significantly reduce poverty and inequality.
