EFFECTS OF THE ADOPTION OF FINK'S TAXONOMY FOR SIGNIFICANT LEARNING ON UPB POSTGRADUATE STUDENTS

The research was born from the visit of Dr. Larita Killian to the Private Bolivian University in 2016 and 2017 through the Fullbright International Fellows Program. During her visit, Dr. Killian gave teachers an introduction to qualitative research methods and curriculum redesign of courses using the Fink taxonomy for meaningful learning. The study adopts a mixed research approach, combining quantitative and qualitative aspects to understand the relationship between the use of the Fink taxonomy and two specific aspects of the teaching and learning process: i) the characteristics of the chair and ii) the degree of student achievement. The study will focus exclusively on postgraduate courses, specifically in the areas of Business Administration, Business and Economics. The study will consist of a quasi-randomized experiment in which effects evaluation tools specifically designed for this research will be applied. Ex ante and ex post evaluations of the elements of the teaching and learning process of interest will be carried out, in relation to the workshops given by Dr. Killian on the use of the Fink taxonomy, which would constitute the 'treatment' of the investigation. The random design of this quasi-experiment is expected to identify the degree to which the use of this taxonomy affects the teaching-learning process and some observable and non-observable factors determining these effects.
