Information system for solar radiation measurement and monitoring network

Solar radiation monitoring not only requires measurement devices, but also a software infrastructure to be able to store, process and visualize the data obtained. In this collaboration project between the Center for Optical and Energy Research (CIOE) and the Center for Research on New Computer Technologies (CINTI), the development of a monitoring system - based on a pyranometer and a spectrometer - is proposed and its deployment in a monitoring network using cell phones to send data. The software component is developed by CINTI that enables the sending and dissemination of data through communication, storage and processing components. The project aims to consolidate the data obtained in the cities of Cochabamba and La Paz.

Furthermore, the development of the measurement system points to a portable solution, for which the use of embedded systems (i.e. small electronic devices) represent an opportunity at the hardware level. The project will give access to the data obtained through a Web platform with a user interface that allows manipulating the data in a simple and interactive way. The results of the measurements published through the UPB website.
