Summary:
This Project is focused on establishing guidelines for integrated water resources management plan of the valley basin in Sacaba, improving water resources, soil use and vegetation, simulating with a distributed Geomorphology-Based Hydrological model and the evaluation of possible scenarios of change

Basins in underdeveloped countries have different problems regarding water, soil and vegetation depletion, developing deterioration in the amount water, soil runoff, and destruction of green zones. Using geographical information systems and the use of cartographic maps, a data base system will be created. This will help determine the current condition in the valley of Sacaba.

This Project has 3 main objectives:

  • Determine all water bodies inside the watershed of Sacaba
  • Identify and characterize the use of soil in the basin of Sacaba
  • Evaluate the importance of vegetation inside the watershed
  • Establish techniques to strengthen the integrated water resources management plan for the basin by creating a data base and simulating different scenarios of change.

The project will partner with the Cochabamba basin service. The duration of the project will have an estimate six months, from May to November 2016.
