EVALUATION OF BIM IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF PRE-INVESTMENT IN PUBLIC INVESTMENT PROJECTS

In Bolivia, during the last few years, mainly due to the increase in hydrocarbon prices and production, public investment was increased by 854% from 2005 to 2018. This increase was not accompanied by the implementation of new technologies or processes, executing infrastructure projects as they were developed 50 years ago.

Bolivia is one of the few countries in which the implementation of the BIM Methodology in the development of public investment projects in our country has not been promoted yet, which would constitute an improvement in terms of efficiency, economy and even in the fight against corruption.

In accordance with the aforementioned problems, we propose the creation of a theoretical framework for the implementation of the BIM methodology in the elaboration of Preinvestment Technical Design Studies in infrastructure projects, including the identification of the organizational structure, roles, contracting processes, control processes. It will include tools and templates to integrate in the elaboration of Terms of Reference, definition of costs and consultancy deadlines.

MIXED STRUCTURES AS CONSTRUCTIVE ALTERNATIVE

Mixed structures are structures that combine the qualities of reinforced concrete and structural steel and considerably optimize the structural behavior of both materials, thus constituting more efficient structures from the point of view of structural utilization.  At the same time, their construction process allows for the reduction of execution times, making them an interesting option for the execution of many projects, especially those involving the renovation of urban transportation routes. In order to analyze the behavior of these structures and consider their use in our environment, we propose the development of parametric studies to evaluate their technical characteristics compared to conventional materials.
