Manuel Eduardo Contreras Cabezas, Ph.D.

Production engineer from the University of Nottingham in England, with a master's degree in Latin American studies from the London School of Economics and a doctorate in economic history from Columbia University, he has been a pioneer in the creation and leadership of graduate programs. He was the first director and founder of Master's Programs for Development at the Bolivian Catholic University, and has taught at renowned institutions such as UMSA, CIDES, and the Andean University. With more than 20 years of experience at the Inter-American Development Bank and the World Bank in Washington, DC, he has trained public managers in management, leadership, and organizational change in Latin America, Africa, and Asia. In addition, he taught leadership in the full-time MBA at UPB in La Paz and Cochabamba in 2019, and in La Paz in 2025. He is the author of 6 books and more than 30 articles and book chapters in specialized books and journals, in which he addresses topics related to economic history, the history of education, and educational policies, both in Bolivia and abroad.
