Oliver Saavedra Valeriano has a doctorate in Civil Engineering from the University of Tokyo, Japan. He also holds a master’s degree in Tropical Hydrogeology from Eberhard Karls University Tübingen, Germany. Saavedra earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from UPB. He has been an associate professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan. Saavedra has been director of the Center for Research in Civil and Environmental Engineering at UPB since 2015. He has taken specialized courses in university management and leadership. Currently, Saavedra is dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture at the Cochabamba campus.
