Optimization of the efficiency of photovoltaic systems through solar collection, based on Fresnel lenses

A functional prototype of a photovoltaic system (SFV) was designed and built with the main objective of increasing the efficiency of conventional photovoltaic systems. This new system implements elements of optics and uses wavelength selection systems that allow an effective use of the solar electromagnetic spectrum. An approximate 180% increase in average power was obtained with the new system, compared to systems without the aforementioned modification.

One of the most important results of the method used is that the temperature of the photovoltaic cells, even with concentrated light, did not increase significantly, in the best case study an increase of less than 2 oC was registered, which shows that the developed systems are very promising for a real practical implementation in conventional SFVs, such as those used in rural Bolivia.
