
Sandra Liliana Ibáñez-Calero has a degree in Pure Chemistry from UMSA, with master’s degrees in Organic Synthesis and Natural Products Chemistry from the University of Illinois, and a Ph.D. in Biomolecular Chemistry from the Université Paul Sabatier (France). She has more than 20 years of experience in teaching and research in the United States, France, and Bolivia. For more than a decade, she has been a teaching and research professor at UPB and director of the Phytochemical Research Center (CIF) on the La Paz campus. She has built an outstanding scientific career with numerous publications, lectures, and national and international awards. Her honors include Third World Women in Science (2008), the Plurinational Science and Technology Award (2019), and being selected as a finalist for the Bicentennial Award (2025). She has also led various engineering degree programs related to natural resources and energy.
