Simplified and expeditious calculation of folded sheet metal sections in elements subject to biaxial flexo-compression

There is a large-scale use of this type of metal sections in our region and a lack of a simplified calculation is unknown. In most cases, the calculations are not correct because they are based on specific expressions for other types of profiles. In this project, simplified expressions are sought for the calculation of metallic sections formed from a folded sheet and which are subject to biaxial flexural compression stresses.


The shaped profiles of folded sheet have residual stresses that come from their manufacturing process, these residual stresses are different from hot-rolled metal profiles and welded profiles whose residual stresses are normally from the compression process that these problems, is for this reason that their calculation methodology must be different. There are complete expressions that analyze the stresses in beam-column elements of folded sheet profiles but they are not simplified.
