Description
The Alternative Energy Laboratory (LEA) aims to support companies, local communities, municipalities, and the country in the transition toward a sustainable energy system, through the analysis, development, and application of renewable energy technologies. Through scientific research and technological innovation, LEA promotes energy efficiency and the use of clean sources such as solar, wind, and biomass energy.
Research lines
Photovoltaic and thermal solar energy: design and development of solar systems for rural and urban applications, on a small, medium, and large scale, aimed at electric generation and thermal use.
Wind energy: research in the design, optimization, and adaptation of wind turbines to improve efficiency in wind energy capture.
Biomass energy: study of conversion processes of agro-industrial, urban, and forestry waste into biofuels and energy, promoting sustainability and waste reduction.
Other areas of study
Integration of alternative energies with conventional sources: development of models and tools for the efficient integration of renewable energies into electrical grids.
Energy efficiency and distributed generation: research into strategies to optimize energy consumption in industry and other sectors.
Energy storage systems: development and evaluation of electric and thermal storage technologies to improve the management of renewable energies.
