Software development for LIBS portable system

In the "Development of LIBS Technology" program of the Center for Optical and Energy Research (Centro de Investigaciones Ópticas y Energia CIOE), there is the development of specialized devices (portable laser, high-resolution spectrometer and portable LIBS system) applied to mining in Bolivia. These elements require software that is developed by CINTI, for the interpretation of spectral data (Phase I) and the semi-quantitative and quantitative analysis of used solid samples (Phase II). Given that the project aims to develop a portable system for on-site analysis, the software must be able to run on embedded systems and, in addition, on portable computers to display the elements in real time.

The software captures the images captured by a CCD sensor (monochromatic camera connected to the LIBS system) to carry out a processing to obtain the spectra corresponding to the elements of the analyzed samples (e.g. Lithium, Copper, Silver, Gold, Lead). Using known reference spectra (e.g. Mercury), the software allows to calibrate the data by wavelength, to later obtain spectral data and to be able to visualize, store and export them. The software allows to identify the elements of the samples in real time, making a correspondence with the references (e.g. from the University of Delaware) of the spectra of each element stored in an embedded database.
