What is the University of London (UoL)?

University of London (UoL) is one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in the world, internationally recognized for its high academic standards. UoL is a federal university, made up of 18 Universities and 9 Research Institutes located in the City of London. Its reputation is based on the academic quality of the universities that compose it, among which are Birbeck College, University College London, Queen Mary, King’s College London, the London School of Economics and Political Science, among other important institutions.
In collaboration with the universities that compose it, UoL has established Flexible and Distance Learning Programs. These programs offer students from all over the world the possibility of obtaining a British degree without the need to physically attend a university in the United Kingdom. The universities that make up UoL provide the academic direction of the programs, this means that the universities design the academic content and exams.

What is the role of the Economics career at the UPB?

The academic direction of the Economics program is in charge of the London School of Economics (LSE), a university that year after year is among the best 5 universities in social sciences worldwide. LSE is in charge of the design of the academic programs and of providing all the material to the students of the parallel degree programs. For its part, the Economics degree at the UPB is responsible for implementing the academic content prepared by the LSE, and trains and prepares students to successfully pass all the exams designed by the LSE.
Since 2019, the UPB is the only Recognized Teaching Center of the University of London in Bolivia, an accreditation that recognizes the academic quality of the UPB to teach the Economics, Business and Management and Banking and Finance programs.

Why study in the Parallel Degree program?

Education in the UK is top notch. The excellence of British universities is recognized around the world. By studying in UoLIP programs, students prepare for an academic degree that meets all the standards set by the British government.

The methodology followed by UoL programs is the same for all academic degrees awarded by the UK, cultivating independent thinking, analytical skills and discipline. This provides advantages to students, since these qualities are highly valued in the labor market. Additionally, studying in English provides the opportunity to improve students' language skills and think about an international career.

For the programs offered at the UPB for careers in Economics and Financial Engineering, academic direction is offered by the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). The LSE is among the top 10 universities in both programs globally. The LSE is in charge of the design of the academic programs and of providing all the material to the students of the parallel degree programs.

The students of these academic programs have access to an international study plan, the courses of which are taught in person at the UPB. Upon graduation, the final diploma awarded by UoL shows that the student was enrolled at the University of London, which will award a Bachelor's degree (BSc). In addition, the diploma mentions the name of the London School of Economics, in charge of the academic direction of the program. Likewise, graduates can attend a graduation ceremony in London.

Enrolled students get a worldwide education at a reasonable price, without incurring the same housing and tuition costs as students who are physically in the UK.

Who is it aimed at?

The parallel degree program is aimed at students of Economics and Financial Engineering careers. The corresponding programs at UoL are BSc in Economics and BSc in Banking and Finance.
