Qualitative Study on Training Needs and Demands and Training in Microenterprise and Self-Employment Segments

The Swiss Agency for Development Cooperation, has decided to deepen the study of "Labor dynamics in intermediate and small cities" through a qualitative study that allows exploring the education and training needs in the segment of micro-enterprises and self-employment. The study seeks to understand what are the education and training needs of small-scale economic actors, the segment in which the largest proportion of labor activity in the country is concentrated.

The specific objectives of the study are:

  • Characterize the micro-business and self-employed segments in sectors with high productive dynamism.
  • Explore the needs and demands for professional training and education in economic sectors with high concentration of employment, considering the particularities of cities in the central axis and intermediate cities.
  • Know the different training needs by gender and generation (youth and adults).
  • In this sense, the Center for the Generation of Information and Statistics (CEGIE) of the UPB, was invited to carry out the corresponding study to meet the stated objectives.
